INSTALLATION GUIDE · MAC DEVELOPMENT PREVIEW

Let’s get
you set up.

Install the complete plugin folder once. Future updates keep that registered location, your Lightroom metadata and the records beside your photos.

FIRST INSTALLATION

From download to Lightroom.

  1. Check your Mac and quit Lightroom

Use an Apple Silicon Mac with macOS 15+ and Lightroom Classic 14 or newer. Save your work and quit Lightroom normally.

READY WHEN · Lightroom is closed.

  2. Download and extract the complete package

    Checking available build…

Double-click the ZIP in Finder. The complete folder is named LR Photo Sorter.lrplugin. Keep all its contents together, including its bin helpers.

READY WHEN · You have the complete .lrplugin folder.

  3. Move it to Lightroom’s plugins folder

In Finder, choose Go → Go to Folder… (⇧⌘G), then paste /Applications/Adobe Lightroom Classic/Adobe Lightroom Classic.app/Contents/PlugIns. Move the complete LR Photo Sorter.lrplugin folder into this folder, alongside Lightroom’s bundled plugins. If macOS requests administrator permission, approve the move.

The final location is /Applications/Adobe Lightroom Classic/Adobe Lightroom Classic.app/Contents/PlugIns/LR Photo Sorter.lrplugin. Keep all plugin contents together. Do not point Plug-in Manager at an incomplete source checkout.

After a Lightroom application update, check that the plugin is still present; reinstall it here if necessary.

READY WHEN · The complete plugin is in Lightroom’s PlugIns folder.

  4. Register it in Lightroom

Open Lightroom and your catalog. Choose File → Plug-in Manager → Add, select the complete .lrplugin folder, and verify it is enabled. Disable older duplicate entries.

READY WHEN · LR Photo Sorter is installed and enabled.

  5. Open the sorter

Choose Library → Plug-in Extras → Open LR Photo Sorter. The window should show the installed version. Prepare a few stacks and review the results before processing a complete shoot.

YOU’RE DONE · The sorter opens beside Lightroom.

ALREADY INSTALLED

Update without losing your records.

From Check for Updates

  1. Click Check for Updates below Apply Headlines.
  2. If a newer signed release is available, review its notes and choose Download Verified Update.
  3. After verification, choose Install After I Quit. Save your work and quit Lightroom normally within 15 minutes.
  4. Wait for the installer to replace the complete plugin and reopen your catalog. Verify the version in the sorter window.

Automatic updates need the live HTTPS host and bundled publisher trust key. Until those are configured, the plugin reports that updates are not configured; it does not pretend a download succeeded.

Manual complete-folder update

  1. Download and extract the newer complete package from this site.
  2. Save and quit Lightroom normally.
  3. Move the previous .lrplugin folder to a recoverable backup location. Put the new complete folder at the same registered path.
  4. Reopen Lightroom and verify the displayed version. Keeping the same path avoids another Add/Remove cycle.

Keep the old bundle until the update is verified. Records under Sorter analysis stay with the photos and are not part of the replaced plugin. Do not remove those records or your saved Lightroom preferences.

If something doesn’t match the steps.

The plugin says its diagnostic helper is missing.

You may have registered the source checkout or an incomplete folder. Install the complete download, including the bin folder. Keep recovery records; they are not the missing component.

Feedback cannot be sent.

The service may be offline or the hostname may not be connected yet. The plugin keeps your draft so you can retry. Submissions are saved only after the service confirms receipt.

The update button says updates are not configured.

The signed update channel is not ready. Use the complete-folder manual process above, or report the setup problem. Never use an unsigned development manifest as a trusted automatic update.

macOS blocks the development helper.

Record the exact message and contact ALP Studio. This build is a development preview, not a notarized installer. Do not disable system protections to work around an error.
